On 31 March I received an anonymous text message at exactly 5am. It was a simple note saying, 'I don't know when I'll be home.' No name, no questions.
I lay awake wondering who might have sent this message and who they thought I was.
I decided that the only way to find out would be to put myself in their shoes: away from home and awake at 5am. I imagined I'd find traces of this person, or people like them, all across the city.
Through a monthly log, which incorporates photography and words, I will explore London at 5am to begin to understand this person, without ever replying to the text message, and without ever meeting them.
